Fun in the sun

What better time to go on picnic than a Sunday afternoon. Across the street from our apartment are these wonderful falls and not to mention the beautiful Rideau Canal. Emery has been loving the outdoors and is quite content cuddled up to my side. She was very interested in all the falling water around her.

Our apartment building is just over those trees. You would never know it with all the trees and plants around. We are super lucky to have such a fun location.

Thanks to Auntie Lacey, Emery never has to leave my side! We have been loving the borrowed sling. She sleeps, eats, and cuddles in it. Lucky duck!

Oh rice crackers. You are the best. Emery has been thrilled about all the new solids that have been introduced to her diet. Apples, Carrots, Rice cereal, and now rice crackers! Our little girl is growing up too fast.

I woke up this morning and this is what i find. What a little monkey. jokes! She might be growing up fast, but not that fast.

I can't believe how quickly we all are settling into our new life for the summer. Maybe we will stay for good.... :)

There's no place like home

We have begun our summer in Ottawa. With Emery being the sweaty monster, Levi wrking hard, and me soaking up the beautiful surrondings we are bound to make this an adventure. We have moved to a neighborhood with so many fun things to do see, Which makes up for our lack of space in our temporary home. I know you all have been so patient waiting for pictures so here you go! Emery did amazing on her first plane ride. She had the giggles the entire time and had a lot of people peaking over their seats to see our little cutie-patutie. So dispite the fact she had two up the back messes....It was a fun time.

This is our bedroom for all three of us...how cozy! We were still getting settled when this picture was taken so its a little messy. I will have to take some more when we get our drapes up and such. Its tight but I've been loving waking up to see two bright eyes watching me throgh her crib.

This is our indoor pool. There is also an outdoor pool but hasn't been filled up yet. I am sure it is going to turn out to be one of our favorite places as these summer days get warmer.

This is our laundry room. I am finding myself feeling pretty grateful for having a sister so close by. It is a lot more entertaining to do laundry over there...and not to mention less expensive.

We live on the 3rd floor but i rarely take the stairs when lugging a baby and diaper bag. we have a old elevator that makes you want to hurl with every stop. check out these old school buttons.Emery thinks they are pretty fantatic too.

Well that's our home. Its nothing extraordinary but its a roof over our heads for four months. happy summer everyone!

Lions, Tigers, and Bears...oh my!

Time flies when your having fun, or so I've noticed as our moving day to Ottawa is coming fast. We have been trying to spend as much time with family as possible before we leave. Two days after coming home from Portland we headed off for the Calgary Zoo. My sister Ellie, her boyfriend Austin, My mom, Niece Taylee, and our little family of three all packed into the traditional big blue van for a real Bissett Family experience. I realized things haven't changed much when my mom whipped out the Ham sandwiches and expired treats as we bounced along seatbelt-less. When we arrived at the zoo all the animals were dead. Jokes! But seriously, I wish they put these poor chicks in less obvious spots. It is one of those things that we know has to happen, but we wish we don't have to see.

The peacocks were not shy one bit this trip. I saw more of them than i had ever seen on any of my other zoo trips. I got missed by poop by an inch when we walked under a bridge with a peacock perched on top. lovely.

Zebras are amazing. They never cease to amaze me with their distinct pattern. I think it is a wonder how the black and white don't just blend to make a grey but keep their and grow in distinct lines and loops. I think God got pretty creative with creating the animals on this earth.

These lions were mating right before i took this picture. There was quite the crowd to witness this event. I heard an excited child exclaim, "look mom! Their cuddling!" Oh the joy of the zoo in the spring.

Emery had good snoozes that day and thanks to her Grandma Bissett she was cuddled up in her stroller most of the time. We will have to bring her back to the zoo when she is a little more interested in the animals. I can't wait.

A little Blessing...

On March 28, 2009 I found I was pregnant. I never would have imagined that exactly one year later, on March 28, 2010, our sweet little Emery would receive her baby blessing. Levi did really well while Emery kept herself busy blowing lots of bubbles. She has brought such a wonderful spirit to our home. She is almost 4 months and growing up way to fast. We are so so lucky to have her. Em loves to get her picture taken. She poses so nicely.

Its not until i see all three of us together, sitting where so many families have had their picture taken before, do i realize we are one of them. An actual family. I'm a Mom...Levi's a Dad...and we are not just babysitting!! Emery is ours to keep!

pu.pu.pu.pu.pu.POKERFACE!

Emery thinks a lot of things are funny these days...but one word in particular really gets her going. I had started saying "Bu Bu Bu Bu" and a big grin and little snort followed. I got excited and after awhile i started trying other letters. "Pu Pu Pu Pu" is her favorite. While as you can see...my "Pu Pu Pu" somehow managed to end with me yelling "POKER FACE"! She thinks I'm pretty funny. (I'm glad someone does!!) I've never seen her laugh this hard before. Enjoy.

where does time go?

Emery is growing up so fast. Each day gets better and better. Lately she has seemed more like a little girl than a baby( if that makes sense)She has developed such a sweet personality and great sense of humor. Levi and I love being parents.

I love waking up to the sound of Emery babbling to herself in her crib. At night when i get her ready for bed i swaddle her snugly and somehow she weasels her way out by morning. When i peak over the side of the crib this is what i so often find, our little em, playing in her blankets. I don't know how she manages to get the blankets all up by her head. ha ha too funny. This is another thing that reminds me that our little girl is growing so fast.

This is Emery at 3 months. She has been working so hard to roll over, getting closer and closer every day. Sometimes she gets her legs kicking so fast she starts panting for breath though her little grins. Oh she is so much fun.

Em's first walk

I have never been so excited for spring than i am for this year. With Levi busy at work and school, Emery and I take every chance we can get to get out of the house. We are so lucky to live in such a great area with so many places to go for walks. Emery loved looking up at the sky and trees over head as we went for her first walk in the Nicholas Sharan park. I sat down on a bench to take a rest but parked the stroller under a tree so emery could look at the branches through her peep hole. I got a few odd looks from some passing runners. Emery and I didn't mind.

Being Bundled up so cozy put Emery right to sleep after awhile. I hope it gets nicer outside so i don't have to bundle her up so much, then she can stay awake to enjoy the walk longer. I picked quite the nippy day to go for a walk.

I love finding opportunities to Dress Emery in her cute little jackets and fun shoes. I need to get her out of the house more often so that she can wear all her clothes before she grows out of them!
