July 1st

Being in the country's capital, the choices of activities on Canada day are endless. It seemed like every park in the city had its own festivities. We decide we better go downtown and around Parliament for the full on experience. I have never seen so many people packed into an area before. We were packed in there like pickles are packed into a pickle jar! There was food vender's, street performers, and all sorts of activities. Levi worked in the morning, so by the time we got out there it was almost 5 PM and the activities were dying down. There were still street performers and food! After walking around a bit, we staked out a prime place for the fireworks, cozied up smack dab in from of the Parliament building. (they are shot of right behind the Parliament building, so they explode around it.) Fire hazard? Maybe!! We hung out, enjoying the live music with the company of our good friends Jessica and Brendan Matkin. There was quite the variety of music playing from the stage right beside us, which was broad casted around Canada. Even the Bare Naked Ladies played. After three hours of waiting the fireworks started and were fabulous, as expected. Emery loved being up past her bed time and enjoyed every minute of the booming colors. When they were over she zonked out and slept until morning. We took the bus home, which was a fun experience. We had to wait for the third bus to arrive because the first two were stuffed to the brim. The second one would come, the massive amount of people would swarm around it and all pack on. Police were there trying to keep it calm but still ended up helping to push the people on. I was glad we were not one of the people smooshed up against the door. Is that even safe?! Over all it was a fun experience but defiantly only a one time thing. To much craziness for our little family!
Canada rocks!...or at least Emery's shirt thinks so! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
Levi and i bought shirts just for the occation. I am glad we did because people go all out downtown. You cant tell my shirt is festive...but it does have the lyrics to Oh Canada written all over it and my hair is covering the maple leaf.
This was in the afternoon before it got packed.
Chalk drawing. very nice.
Jess sporting a lovely sun burn. We all put on Tattos while waiting for the fireworks. Us girls had them on our arms and the boys had them on their cheeks.
Through all the madness by the stage, surrounded by people, a guy was just sitting on the ground playing games on his Lap top. uh..weird?
Emery's favorite toy of the evening was my Oh Henery. After the fireworks. ...and yes...those are all people all over the street. No wonder they blocked off so many streets.
The bus.
